II Thessalonians 1:11 “…we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.”

When God calls you to something, His plan and purpose for you has been already laid out.  That good purpose and plan then shapes and effects  you from the inside out…allowing you to think and act differently – having right desires and good intentions.

Joshua 23:14 ” You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.”

The Lord is faithful to all His promises…not just some…not just to the ones He wants to keep.  No, God cannot go back on His promises to you.  His Word is eternal…His covenant is forever.  His precious promises to you will never  fall short…they will never be in vain.

Matthew 18: 2-4 ” He called a little child and had him stand among them. And He said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.’ “

This story actually started earlier as Jesus and the Disciples were traveling.  An argument had ensued among the Disciples of just who was the greatest.  So now Jesus was calling them out on it and extinguishing any  ego that was still lingering by having a little boy stand among them as an example of how He wanted them to behave.  Not as proud, honor-seeking men, but as  meek, gentle, giving children.

Psalm 145:3 ” Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.”

Paul’s letter to the Romans tried to explain our incomprehension of God’s greatness when he said, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” (Romans 11:33)  As humans, we cannot start to understand or ever figure out just how wonders and miracles happen…for the Lord’s power is truly unfathomable.

Hebrews 11:15-16 ” If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country – a heavenly one.”

The Lord doesn’t want us to long for the past.  When we keep going back to the comfortable…the things from our past, we will never move forward.   God wants us rather to focus on His vision for today and the future in our life.  Oswald Chambers said it best, “Beware of paying attention or going back to what you once were, when God wants you to be something that you have never been.”

Psalm 35:13 “…and humbled myself with fasting.”

Sometimes when we want the Lord to get serious with us…we need to get serious with Him.  A day spent in prayer and fasting not only allows us to focus on the request, but the physical exercise of denying ourselves brings about clarity and direction from God as we humble ourselves before Him.

Isaiah 26:7 ” The path of the righteous is level; O upright one, You make the way of the righteous smooth.”

Walking on  uneven and bumpy ground can be very challenging…and even dangerous.  At anytime our feet can slip and we can fall.  But if we stand on solid, level ground, we can walk with confidence, even if the path is shrouded in shadows. Our journey through life is like that…it can be either be smooth or rough…life or death,  depending on the path we choose.

Philippians 3:12 ” Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

You are still running your race.  You are still fighting the good fight of faith.  So forget about the mistakes you made yesterday and instead reach for the goal before you…and you will find it.

Romans 2:1 ” You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at what ever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”

We all give snap opinions mentally  everyday.  No one may hear them…but we’re constantly pronouncing judgment on those around us.  But for as harshly as we judge others…in the same way we will be judged someday…which kind of makes you think doesn’t it.

Psalm 111:7 ” The works of His hands are faithful and just, all His precepts are trustworthy.”

As the upheaval of this current world continues,  no where will you find with certainty reliable truth and enduring principles.  It’s only with the Lord that you will find a firm foundation to build your life upon and statues to live an ethically upright life in the mist of this chaos.
