Hebrews 10:4 ” Because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”

From the beginning of time, man has attempted to remove the shame and guilt of sin.  The Priests would offer the same sacrifices day after day, over and over again…but the humiliation would remain.  No matter how many times an animal sacrifice was laid at the altar…it was never good enough. That’s because it’s only the blood of Jesus Christ that can take away, once for all, your sins and the guilt and shame that harass  you. When Jesus died on the Cross for you, He took upon Himself your sins, and made a way to our Heavenly Father…that you might experience peace.  If there’s no happiness or peace in your inner self today…maybe you should consider asking Jesus into your life.

Psalm 89:6 ” For Who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?”

As God expressed in Exodus 9:14, “There is no one like Me in all the earth.”  God is just that…incomparable, and matchless to anyone or thing we can imagine here on earth.  He is transcendent and beyond what our paltry human minds can contrive.  Look up into the sky today…take in the sheer vastness of it…now ponder, that’s just a tiny bit of God.

John 7:37-38 ” On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.’ “

The yearning we feel inside is a Jesus-shaped void.  Although we try to fill it with lots of things…the spiritual thirst is still there. And it’s not until we have that “Coming to Jesus” moment, that the void can be filled.  Matthew 5:5 tells us, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”  Quit trying to fill the hole inside you with junk, it’ll never work and only leave you more unhappy.  Jesus is the only answer to finding peace in your life today.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ” There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.”

It’s hard to imagine, but there’s an appointed time for everything happening in your life today.  From the very important to the mundane, each matter has been carefully created by God to fit perfectly within His purpose and timetable.  In verse 11 of this chapter we read that God has made everything beautiful in its own time…in its right and proper time.  For with the Lord,  there is no unplanned or unintended actions…that’s because His timing is always perfect.

II Corinthians 6:14 ” Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? “

If you’ve ever seen oxen yoked together…you’ll see one thing quickly…they must move together as one.  The yoke forces them to move in the same direction, even if they don’t want to.  This hitch they are joined together by suddenly becomes a burden as they both pull in opposite directions.  When we are unequally yoked with unbelievers, it soon becomes a wrestling match of the wills…a match between light and darkness…truth and deceit…with no one winning.

Deuteronomy 31:8 “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Fear is a demoralizing force that will stop you in your tracks.  Fear takes your eyes off God and onto to the scary circumstances swirling around you.  Genesis 28:15 tells us, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go…”  Just remember, there is no place you will ever find yourself that is beyond the reach of God.

Colossians 3:10 ” …and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

Once you say “Yes” to Jesus, you begin the life long journey of putting on the new person.  It starts with the redemptive and restorative activity of God within.  But what is it exactly that  we need to be “putting on”?  As we gain wisdom and a new self-perception that’s rooted in the Gospel of who we are in Christ, we’ll put on love…we’ll put on peace…and we’ll put on a deepening faith of who we’re becoming.

Colossians 3:8 ” But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.”

Ephesians 4:22 tells us to put off our old selves…or rid ourselves of our old ways.  But it’s almost impossible to do if you’re still hanging out with the same wrong friends… at places that got you in trouble before.  Putting aside our old ways  means we have to disarm our sins…exposing them to God’s truth and confessing them, but then ridding ourselves of whatever necessary to make a clean break from the past.

Genesis 12:1 ” The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.’ “

It takes huge faith to respond to God’s call when He says, “Go!”   And it takes tremendous trust to say “Yes” when you don’t have a clue what’s to come.  But without that faith and trust in God…you’ll never fulfill His plan and purpose in your life.   Sometimes, God will ask you to take a leap of faith, but know that He’s there ready to catch you…you just have to jump.

Philippians 3:10 ” I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”

To know the Lord Jesus Christ…is to live for Him.  And in knowing Him…we will become more and more like Him, for we conform ourselves to His image.  Knowing the Lord though is a life long journey of dying daily to our old self and deliberately becoming more like Him.  But in the end, when people look at us, they won’t see us…they’ll only see Jesus.
