John 7:3-4 ” Jesus’ brothers said to Him, ‘You ought to leave here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples may see the miracles You do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.”

Jesus was spending time in Galilee as the Feast of Tabernacles was about to start. Rather than staying put, His brothers were urging Jesus to go up to Jerusalem to make Himself known to the huge crowds that would gather for the Festival. But Jesus wasn’t looking for publicity, notoriety, fame. or fortune…quite the opposite. In Matthew 12:15-21 Jesus quotes Isaiah 42 about Himself…that He is gentle & lowly with humility and meekness – not a warrior figure leading a military or political movement…not clamoring for attention, but always speaking in a Spirit of gentleness & patience. But most of all always listening, following, and pleasing His Father first and foremost.
