I Corinthians 12:27 ” Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

Here and in Romans 12:4-5, the Apostle Paul uses the analogy of the human body and its various parts to illustrate the Church as the Lord designed it to be. We as Believers should support & serve one another in unity, love, and grace. So, when someone comes to us with a personal problem, our job is to listen & validate rather than shower them with our experiences. Sure, the Lord is very good about bringing people across our path going through exactly what we have walked through in the past, but still our story must be short and centered on what the Lord did, not on us. If we’re waiting for them to take a breath so we can regale them with our “my story’s better than yours”…it just becomes one upmanship and not helpful at all. To make someone feel validated in the midst of tribulation, we are to support them with Scripture, confirm & bear witness to God still working in their life, and love them through the turmoil.
