We don’t pray to inform God. We pray to involve God.

It’s really silly to think that we need to tell God about our problems, or give Him personal information. That’s because God is an all-knowing God. The word for this is omniscience, which means “to have all knowledge.” Psalm 44:21 and Psalm 94:11 both tell us that, “God knows the secrets of the heart.” So why does He still want us to lay all our problems out before Him in prayer if He already knows every detail? Many times we have never taken the time to acknowledge, let alone verbalized all the emotions deep inside us…or those secrets of the heart. But by speaking them out loud in prayer to the Lord, they are brought from the depths to the surface and allow us to confess our doubts and fears and ask for forgiveness. But God won’t let us there…for He cares deeply about us, (Psalm 8:4) and desires to engage and embrace our problems and become intimately involved as we bring our burdens to Him.
