Luke 22:1-2 ” Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and teachers of the Law were looking for someway to get rid of Jesus…”

It was the final earthly days of Jesus before His crucifixion…and a plot had been hatched by the religious leaders to kill Him. They didn’t view Jesus as the long awaited Messiah, but rather as opposition that dared to question their power and authority over the people. And as Jesus’ popularity grew, so did their fears that the people would turn and follow Jesus, not them. They thought they were so sneaky and acting in secret…unaware that they were in fact fulfilling Chapter 53 of Isaiah, where the consolation of Israel is foretold as God accomplishes the Salvation of His people…through the shed blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
