Everyday people watch how you conduct your life…what comes out of your mouth may or may not have much impact on those around you. More times than not, it’s your walk that people notice. Do you walk as Jesus did? The Lord led by example, and He demonstrated what He taught in very real and tangible ways…and He wants us to do the same. There are many times when you won’t have to say a word… for your walk will speak volumes for you.

Genesis 8:22 ” As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”
Sometimes I think the good Lord gives us the awe-inspiring beauty of Fall in compensation for the up-coming harsh Winter that will soon overtake us. The trees are in their full glory now…golds, yellows, rusts all contrast beautifully against the chilly blue sky. Long lines of birds perch on the high-line wires waiting for the queue to fly South…while V-shaped groups of Canadian geese move slowly across the sky, honking as they bid us goodbye for another season. Cold weather is right around the corner, so I thank you Lord for all this beauty right now.
Deuteronomy 2:2-3 ” Then the Lord said to me,’ You have made your way around this hill country long enough…’ “
The Lord has a way of teaching us lessons. If we’re a quick study and obey immediately, we move forward with Him. But if we ignore or refuse to heed the message…He will “send us around the mountain one more time”…until we’re again facing that same old matter. Depending on our willingness, stubbornness, or just plain stupidity will determine how many times we make that long trip around.
Colossians 3:2 ” Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Holy living is not about what you can’t do…it’s not about some list of things you must adhere to…or else. Rather, living a holy, self controlled life is a mindset of where and who you place your devotion in…on things of this world and yourself, or things of heaven and Jesus.
Jeremiah 10:12 ” But God made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.”
The Lord is the Maker of all things…He brought into existence the land, sea, and sky for our enjoyment and pleasure. By His infinite wisdom everything was formed perfectly…with careful attention to every detail. We thank you Lord for the vast beauty around us…and we thank you for the opportunity to enjoy it all.
John 4:37 ” Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true.”
Jesus was telling the Disciples that the harvest of souls for the Kingdom was in front of them…but that all the really hard prep work had already been done… by others. Never become discouraged or dismayed when you feel like you’re not making a difference…don’t allow it to stop you from continuing to sow and pour into others lives, for you may never see the outcome in this lifetime…but you will someday!
Psalm 119: 130 ” The unfolding of Your Word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”
The Lord is faithful…each time you read the Bible, He will open up new concepts, ideas, and insight that you hadn’t read before. It’s almost like a beautiful rosebud unfurling in front of you…petal by petal, as He reveals His amazing truths and makes the Word come alive.
Proverbs 27: 17 ” As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Who has shaped your life? Who has poured wisdom and Godly counsel into you, to make you who you are today? So many times we fail to thank those mentors…those wise and sage people who saw the potential in us, when we couldn’t see anything of worth. Some, we may not be able to thank until we see them in Heaven, but for the others…Thank you for changing me for the better…Thank you for believing in my good when I couldn’t see it in myself…Thank you for being Jesus to me. You are truly blessed of God.
Galatians 3: 26-28 ” You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
“…for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” No one may boast that they are somehow better, closer, or higher to Jesus…for if the Holy Spirit resides inside us, we are all one in Him. God doesn’t show favoritism, He is fair and just to all…and we can do nothing less.
Numbers 21: 8-9 ” The Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.’ Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake, he lived.”
God had sent a plague of snakes to the rebellious Israelites in the wilderness, with many dying of poisonous bites. When Moses cried out to the Lord on their behalf, God instructed him to make the Nehushtan. Sadly, in II Kings 18:4, King Hezekiah broke the bronze snake into pieces because the people were treating it as an idol and burning incense to it. They were exalting the object rather than worshipping the God who healed them.
