You may think you’re alone, but you’re not. You may think no one sees or even cares about you, but you’re wrong. Psalm 33:13-14 tells us, “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place He watches all who live on earth.” For no matter how you feel about God and spiritual things…He’s still watching you, for in Proverbs 15:3 it says, “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” Satan would like you to believe that you’re alone, forgotten, abandoned, and worthless. But this is a lie, for God’s eyes are on you at this very moment, offering you His hand of love and support. Today you may find yourself alone, but you don’t need to feel lonely…for God is there.

Hebrews 2:8 ” In putting everything under Him, God left nothing that is not subject to Him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to Him.”
It’s almost like the Writer of Hebrews is looking around at the wickedness in the world at that time and lamenting…”Yet at present we do not see everything subject to Him.” And sadly, we could say the same thing today as we survey the evilness and rebellion in our world. Jesus Christ has supreme power and rule and there will come a day when He takes His rightful seat of authority over this broken world. For submission to authority is either compulsory or voluntary…demanded or deliberate. And on that day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. There will be no insubordination or willfulness…no pride or arrogance…for the world will see Jesus in all His glory, and there will be silence.
II Samuel 16:1 ” When David had gone a short distance beyond the summit, there was Ziba, the steward of Mephibosheth, waiting for him…”
Mephibosheth was the son of Jonathan and grandson of Saul. And after their deaths, in an act of kindness, King David had restored their property to the handicapped Mephibosheth. This deal included Ziba, who had once been a servant in Saul’s household. Within verses 1-4, Ziba cleverly manages to protect his own interests and accuse Mephibosheth of treachery and disloyalty against King David…all the while spreading malice gossip and lies. Sadly, King David took Ziba at his word and did not check it out first for authenticity before hastily responding. He reacted rather than acting in a responsible way…and thus was easily swayed by deception and drama.
Revelation 7:9 ” After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.”
Imagine it. Someday we too will join the countless throng in heaven. We will be shoulder to shoulder with people from every corner of the world…all from different races, languages, and customs. Yet we will have one thing in common…one thing that joins us together forever…one thing that wipes away every diversity. His name is Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)
Habakkuk 3:2 ” Lord, I have heard of Your fame; I stand in awe of Your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
Our relationship with God does not revolve around one spiritual experience we once had. Nor is it about second-hand stories we’ve heard about God. No, our journey with the Lord is an ever growing, ever changing personal relationship with our Heavenly Father…being renewed daily in mind, body, and spirit. Psalm 85:6 tells us, “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” Today that would be my prayer also…Revive us again, O Lord, for Your glory!
Psalm 133:1 ” How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.”
As Jesus prayed for His disciples in John, He asked that “they may be one as we are one.” (John 17:11) Later in that Chapter as He went on to pray for all Believers, He said, “May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me.” (John 17:23) In other words, to reflect the unity and oneness between the Father and Son, as Believers, we need to be perfectly united also. You can’t show the world Jesus when your bad behavior towards others is just like the rest of the world.
Ephesians 2:6-7 ” And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
God didn’t have to do it. He didn’t have to send His one and only Son to suffer unspeakable torture and death on a cross. But God did. Titus 3:4-5 tells us, “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.” It is only because of God’s immeasurable grace and mercy…and His incomprehensible benevolence towards us that we are able to call ourselves sons and daughters of the Most High King. God didn’t have to do it…but He did.
I Kings 16:30-31 ” Ahab, son of Omri, did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him.”
Queen Jezebel brought her false religion and idols with her and tried to force it on Israel. She was extremely intelligent, cunning, evil…and ruthless in destroying anyone who stood up to her…killing off many of the Lord’s prophets. This Jezebel spirit seeks to infiltrate, and once in, tries to attack, undermine and destroy people, marriages, Churches, and Ministries. This critical spirit worms its way in with charisma and manipulation slowly taking control only then to turn…causing major dissension, strife, in-fighting, and malicious gossip. Those in Leadership positions are especially in their sights to destroy. Even strong Christians can be brought down by this Jezebel spirit…look at Elijah. Even though he had just defeated 400 prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel…when Jezebel threatened him…he ran. Elijah was so distraught and depressed he wanted to quit and just walk away from God…until God strengthened him and gave him a Word.
Philemon 6-7 ” I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”
This was one of Paul’s loveliest and most personal letters directed to the leader of the Colossian Church. Here Paul was encouraging Philemon to continue sharing his faith. For when faith is shared, the Word of God is unleashed to successfully accomplish its plan and purpose in people’s lives. Never be afraid to share the reason for the hope you have. (I Peter 3:15) For you may never know the impact it may have on someone. And the wonderful benefit of sharing your faith with others is that every time you hear it yourself…your trust and confidence in God is built up a little bit more.
Job 16:19-21 ” Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man He pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.”
These verses remind me of the old Hymn, “What a Friend I have in Jesus.” When our burdens are too heavy to bear…our friend Jesus is there, ready to take those burdens and offer support and comfort. When pain and sorrow fills our body…our friend Jesus is there at the right hand of God interceding, and pleading on our behalf. Yes, if we think about it, there really is no better friend than Jesus.
