We should all be asking for these…Divine knowledge, moral insight, and Holy inspiration. Praying daily, we should be desiring not only of more awareness of the Lord, but to have divine understanding and discernment of that newly illuminated perception of Him.

Galatians 5:24 ” Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.”
We are no longer slaves to sin…we have put to death the flesh with all its lusts and cravings through our faith and trust in Jesus. Our corrupt nature has been nailed to the Cross… once, for all…and we’re set free.
Psalm 92: 14-15 ” They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, ‘ The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.’ “
I see it everyday…dear elderly saints of the faith, out and about working for the Lord. Still having passion and purpose in their lives, they untiringly reach out to help others. But I also sadly see the opposite…bitter old people, alone and resentful, complaining that the Lord has left them. The problem is not God, He hasn’t gone anywhere. The problem is their self-absorbed, sullenness…refusing to take their eyes off themselves to look at others.
Galatians 3:22 ” But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.”
We are all bound up by this corrupt, wicked world…every one of us under the influence of sin daily. But the good news is , while we still must be of this world, we don’t necessarily have to be in it. For we have these precious promises of Christ that assure us that our faith and trust in Him will never fail.
Matthew 17:24 ” After Jesus and His Disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, ‘ Doesn’t your Teacher pay the Temple tax?’ “
If you think about it…being the Son of God, Jesus was exempt from the tax. But not wanting to be a stumbling block to the people of Capernaum, Jesus used it to be a faith-building opportunity for Simon Peter. Using Peter’s gift, his talent, his vocation of fishing, Jesus instructed him to go to the lake, cast out his line, and pull in the first fish he hooked. He then told Peter to open its mouth and inside he’d find a four-drachma coin to pay the tax for both of them. By just being obedient with the skills he already had, Peter’s faith was increased greatly, and he was blessed over and above what he could imagined.
James 1:22 ” Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
The Lord doesn’t want us to just causally receive His Word and maybe entertain His commands only if we feel so inclined . By doing so, we’re just fooling ourselves with a lukewarm form of Christianity…and are totally useless for the Lord.
Hebrews 13:8 ” Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
The Lord is unchanging. He will never be inconsistent or wavering in His works, decisions, or promises. He will to all eternity remain the same.
Exodus 40:34 ” Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle.”
God’s majestic presence came down, filling the Temple such that the Priests could not minister. God’s glory came to earth…covering over our sins and offering forgiveness to all who would receive it. His presence came to earth and, “dwelt among us”, as it says in John 1:14.
II Kings 1:8 ” He was a man with a garment of hair and with a leather belt around his waist.”
The Prophet Elijah of the Old Testament…He was recognized by this outfit…his clothing symbolizing his power…so much, that false prophets of that time would attempt to copy his attire. This unusual garb of camel’s-hair and leather illustrated Elijah’s focus was on God, not on his physical comfort or tradition. Later, John the Baptist adopted the same outfit…”Ministering in the spirit and power of Elijah.” ( Luke 1:17) Jesus, Himself, even compared the two in Matthew 11:14 in this way, ” And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.”
II Timothy 2: 9 ” But God’s Word is not chained.”
God’s Word is not bound by human law. It’s not confined or hindered by man’s thought process. It’s not shackled by old traditions. It’s not restrained by political correctness. No, God’s Word…His omnipotent Voice, is free to be released wherever and whenever He chooses.
