On this Easter Sunday, the Lord extends to you this invitation for a new life…a life unlike the one you have right now…a life new and fresh with endless possibilities. It’s there for you today…all you need to do is say “Yes” to Jesus.

Psalm 55:22 ” Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.”
The other verse similar to this one is found in I Peter 5:7, ” Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you.” The Greek meaning for cast in both these verses shows movement and force…in other words, the Lord wants us to not just drop our troubles at His feet, but rather hurl or fling them at Him. So the next time problems and fears are welling up inside you, get rid of them – throw them at the Lord…He’ll catch them!
Isaiah 29:13 ” The Lord says, ‘ These people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is made up only of rules taught by men.’ “
Our lips are the gate to honesty or deception…and giving lip service or insincere devotion to our Lord is the height of falsehood. And when we worship the rules more than worshiping God, it takes it to a realm of legalism that He never intended. Mankind has a bad habit of focusing on Rules… while God wants the focus to be on the Relationship.
Ephesians 2:13 ” But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”
At one time we were all separated from God, for sin keeps us from Him. But Jesus came to reconcile us to the Father…and through His shed blood on the Cross, Jesus Christ has made a way possible for us to have that personal relationship with Him.
I Thessalonians 5:11 ” Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
The Apostle Paul was actually encouraging and building up the followers of Christ in Thessalonica with this very scripture. When we edify and strengthen those around us…when we build people up rather than tearing them down, everyone benefits. Praising someone takes less energy than ridiculing them…and you feel a whole lot better about yourself when you walk away.
Galatians 3: 26-28 ” You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
“…for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” No one may boast that they are somehow better, closer, or higher to Jesus…for if the Holy Spirit resides inside us, we are all one in Him. God doesn’t show favoritism, He is fair and just to all…and we can do nothing less.
Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
When I first hear the word meek, I think of a spineless, unassuming person, that’s too cowardly to do anything. But then I remember a chance meeting I had with a former CIA agent. He wasn’t that big of a man, he didn’t say but a few words, his demeanor was very unpretentious…but he commanded the entire room by what he didn’t do. He knew who he was and who he represented… and that self-confidence was almost palpable. Jesus was the same way…He didn’t have to prove anything. His real strength came from knowing who He was. And that should be true of us also, knowing who we are through Christ Jesus, and aware that in our weakness we are made strong in Him.
