Isaiah 9:6 ” For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Jesus the Messiah has come to earth for you and me this Christmas Day. He offers mercy and love, peace and comfort, salvation and eternal life in place of the pain, loss, and hopelessness that may be in your life today.  Allow Him to come into your life and change you from the inside out…taking all the negatives and transforming them into hope for the future. A Blessed Christmas to all of you!

Matthew 2:11 ” On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.”

The Magi came seeking the Messiah, and bringing with them, gifts…but very special gifts.  These gifts were expensive luxuries of the day…fit for royal presents.  But beyond that, they were also very symbolic in their meanings.   The burning of frankincense symbolized prayers rising to heaven like the fragrant  smoke it gave off… the prayers of Jesus interceding for us at the right hand of the Father.  The myrrh was used for burials and symbolized death…Jesus’s death on the Cross for us.  Finally, the gold was given to symbolize His royal status…and also for the very practical reason –  His parents would soon need finances as they escaped to Egypt to flee from King Herod.

Isaiah 60: 3 ” Nations will come to Your light, and Kings to the brightness of Your dawn.”

The Magi traveled from afar…following the brightest star in the constellation they had ever witnessed.  They knew  that at the end of their journey they would find Him…the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  And even today men still seek Him…Jesus Messiah.

Luke 2:4 ” So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

Caesar Augustus had decreed a census of the entire Roman world…and so everyone had to travel to their home town to register.  If it hadn’t been for that, Joseph probably wouldn’t have subjected his very pregnant wife, Mary, to the long, hard journey on bumpy roads.  But God used a godless Roman King to fulfill His ultimate purpose  and plan.  What we see as just common, ordinary, unrelated threads in our life, God is using to weave a tapestry of unbelievable beauty according to His will.

Luke 2: 14 ” Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.”

The lyrics of a beloved old Christmas carol has been swirling around in my head this Christmas morning. “Oh come let us adore Him…” When was the last time you did just that? Quieted yourself before the Lord and thanked Him for everything He’s given you…for health, and family, and blessing beyond what you know. Today, take a moment to adore Him, for He is so very worthy of your worship. May you and yours have a very blessed Christmas! Thank you for your friendship and encouragement.

Acts 13: 32-33 ” We tell you the good news: What God promised our fathers He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus…”

I declare to you the Good News this Christmas morning! The promises of God have come into existence in the form of that tiny baby in the manger. Now take these glad tidings and proclaim the good news of Jesus to others around you today. From our house to yours…have a very Blessed and peaceful Christmas!

Isaiah 9:6 ” For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Today ponder this…For unto You a tiny baby was born, for unto You a firstborn son was given. If there had been no one else in the world, God would have done this miracle just for You. God loved you so much that He gave His only Son to die on that cross in Your place. Isaiah proclaimed the coming of the Messiah…for You.

Luke 2:8 ” And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.”

Why would God want the angelic messenger to deliver the greatest news ever known to mankind to a group of shepherds? They were simple people, living out in the fields with their animals…caring for, protecting, and tending ill and injured sheep. The Lord could have chosen any other people group to herald this awesome news, but He chose them. Jesus called Himself the good Shepherd, who cared for and protected “His flock”, just like those shepherds that starry night. So, why wouldn’t it be the shepherds that God wanted to tell first? After all, it takes one to know one.

Ephesians 1:16 ” I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.”

The Apostle Paul always made a point of thanking those he was writing to. He showed his appreciation to the people who meant so much to him by thanking God for their faith and love. When we were first married, my husband and I decided we would not exchange gifts at Christmas, but rather write a letter to each other. On Christmas morning we read the letters to each other. Over the last 26 years these letters have evolved, but always include appreciation for the mundane and unnoticed things we both do for each other daily. The letters give us a chance to focus on just why God brought us together in the first place, reminiscing about the past year, and looking forward to the future. This Christmas Season, I encourage you to write a letter of appreciation to someone special, thanking them for their love and faithfulness.

Isaiah 42:1 ” Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on Him and He will bring justice to the nations.”

There are four “Servant Songs” within Isaiah…Chapter 42:1-9, Chapter 49:1-7, Chapter 50:4-11, and Chapter 52:13-53:12. All these songs are prophecies of Christ Jesus; His life, death, and resurrection. In speaking with His disciples, Jesus used these scriptures to show that He was the fulfillment of the words foretold by Isaiah. This Holiday Season I would urge you to take time to read all these passages and marvel at that tiny baby in the manger, and what He stood for.
