Colossians 3:2 ” Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Holy living is not about what you can’t do…it’s not about some list of things you must adhere to…or else. Rather, living a holy, self controlled life is a mindset of where and who you place your devotion in…on things of this world and yourself, or things of heaven and Jesus.

Colossians 3:19 ” Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”

The two emotions spoken of in the verse could not be more diametrically opposed. Husbands are to cherish and honor their wives rather than acting cruelly, or hardhearted towards them. Being mean and abusive towards someone can act like a two-edged sword…for if you look up the Greek word for “being harsh”, it means to turn or make bitter. In other words, harshness will only embitter the person it’s directed towards.

Colossians 1:15 ” He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”

That baby lying in the manger was the personal manifestation of God…not a resemblance or facsimile…Jesus was God incarnate. In Colossians, Paul wrote that Jesus was placed above all creation in that He was the first to rise from the dead with a transformed body…leading the way for us.
