This word of warning from God to Isaiah could easily apply to us today in this broken and chaotic world. The people around Isaiah had turned away from God, taking on more worldly views, actions, and behaviors and depending less and less on the Lord. They had become a obstinate Nation that did not honor God as holy, and feared man more than God. So God warned Isaiah of not being taken in by their way of thinking…and of not embracing the world’s view of things as truth. God also reminded Isaiah (and us) that there is only One that is holy and deserving of our praise and honor…only One that we should fear…the Lord God Almighty is His name.

Colossians 3:2 ” Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Here, as well in Philippians 3:19-20, Paul was showing the moral contrast between heaven and earth. In Philippians he accused the Church of “setting their minds on earthly things”…which was demonstrating the unethical realm of fallen man and the world under the power of sin. In both occasions, Paul was urging the Church towards holy living…a putting on of their new self under Christ, and a putting off of their old self dictated by the sinful world. And even today Paul’s message rings loud and clear to all of us…for where our mindset goes, the rest of our body will follow.
Matthew 13:21 “…when trouble or persecution comes because of the Word, he quickly falls away.”
A Holy Spirit empowered ministry continues despite persecution. Now for most of us, the persecution we endure isn’t fear for our lives, but rather petty or cruel remarks made by anonymous people on social media that are just plain God haters. But when you’re bullied or intimidated for your faith it can still be frightening. The flesh wants to retreat, but the Holy Spirit within spurs us on, giving us the boldness to respond with grace and truth. Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:6, “Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of Me.” The Lord is telling us…”Don’t give up! And don’t allow others to dictate your destiny in Me.”
House Rules – If you drop it…pick it up.
When you’re taken down by sin, you have two choices before you. One is to succumb and give in, beating yourself up and telling yourself how bad you are and that you’ll never amount to anything. The other is to get up and ask the Lord what you can learn from that mistake. Don’t wallow in the guilt and shame any longer, lean on God…for He will sustain and strengthen you and raise you up out of the mud and mire. For it says in Psalm 145:14, “The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.”
Psalm 91: 7-8 ” A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.”
In this fallen world, there will be wars and rumors of wars…and many will be brought down violently at the hands of godless men. But you will only glimpse it from afar, for the evil will not come close… it will only retreat.
