Romans 1:11-12 ” I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong – that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”

There’s no way around it…we all need to be around fellow Believers.  There’s nothing like being with like-minded Christians…sharing, listening, and bearing each others burdens in prayer.  All of us need encouragement and our faith strengthened by interacting with other Believers…we all need to hear how God is moving in other’s lives.  As it says in Proverbs 27:17, ” As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”   Think of it…something the Lord has brought you through is exactly what someone needs to hear today.

Psalm 38:15 ” I wait for You, O Lord; You will answer, O Lord my God.”

If you’re praying but not expecting…why even bother?  If you’re simply mouthing words because it’s the thing to do, but  have no hope  that God will answer…why waste your breath.  If it’s only for show that you pray…why even go there if you don’t truly believe that your prayers are heard?  If you’re praying, but not expecting God to move…why bother.

I John 4:1 ” Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

When you hear something and it doesn’t sit well inside…implement the “smell test”.  It may look fine from the outside, but when you really scrutinize or “smell” it, you discern something is bad.  As Believers, we  need to be ever diligent of  truths that seem to be  a little bit off… that are corrupted or slanted just enough that they  become untruths.  Therefore, examine closely everything you hear and judge for yourselves if it is worthy to be received or not.

II Samuel 22:29 You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.”

I really hate getting up in the middle of the night and stumbling around in the dark.  It can be scary and potentially  dangerous.  But if I simply first turn on a lamp, it changes everything.  My fear of falling or tripping over some unseen thing goes away…for now I can see clearly  my path.  God’s light…His truth, is like a floodlight to our life’s path…illuminating all the precarious obstacles in front of us, so that we may walk in safety.

Isaiah 26:7 ” The path of the righteous is level; O upright one, You make the way of the righteous smooth.”

Walking on  uneven and bumpy ground can be very challenging…and even dangerous.  At anytime our feet can slip and we can fall.  But if we stand on solid, level ground, we can walk with confidence, even if the path is shrouded in shadows. Our journey through life is like that…it can be either be smooth or rough…life or death,  depending on the path we choose.

Psalm 88: 1-2 “O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before You. My prayer comes before You; turn Your ear to my cry.”

When our prayers rise to heaven, the Lord hears.  When He hears, He answers.  When He answers, He always acts on our behalf…according to His perfect Will.

Psalm 25: 12 ” Who is the man that fears the Lord?”

The Psalmist says we are to be obsessed by God.  Not by the world…not by other people…not by anything other than the Lord.  We are to be totally dependent and devoted to God and to God only.  Like a tiny child’s awareness so absorbed in his mother,  that even if she’s out of sight, his mind is ever set on her. And if a problem arises, he looks immediately to her for help.

Job 12:12 ” Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? “

Wisdom and the very ability to obtain it is from God.  And the legacy of living a long  life dedicated to the Lord is the very personification of  that Godly  wisdom  itself.

Revelation 21:3-4 ” And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ “

Our body is the Temple of the living God…with the Holy Spirit  residing within our hearts.  We are a new creation…our old self has fallen away and we can stand before the Father free from the chains and baggage that have hindered us in the past.  The Lord will wipe our tear-stained face and smile lovely into our eyes…and all the past will be gone.

Ezekiel 14: 2-3 ” Then the word of the Lord came to me; ‘Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of Me at all ? “

Biblical writers used the term “idol” rather scornfully, denouncing them as “dead beams of wood.”  For anytime something is preventing us from seeing the truth and enticing us away from the one true God…it’s all death, decay, and darkness.
