Standing on the edge of greatness……..

Today, you are positioned by God…on the very brink of something awesome He has placed in your heart. Are you ready? Are you prepared? Don’t allow the devil to steal this God-ordained moment from you. Greater is He that is in you, than he that is the world. Stand your ground, resist the fear that may be rising up inside, and watch the Lord work.

Philippians 2:3 ” Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.”

This verse totally contradicts our basic human nature. We love to be first and ahead of everyone else…and always looking out for Number One, not others. But this verse follows the acronym -JOY- your focus should be on Jesus first, others second, and yourself last.

Acts 20: 28-30 ” Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.”

Satan is a liar and the author of lies, and he will always resort back to his mode of operation. He will take the truth and twist it…warp and corrupt it ever so slightly – so that the casual listener will hear nothing alarming. He will pervert the truth of the Gospel just enough as to make it more about man than God…more about selfish ambition than selfless giving…more about human pride than quiet humility.

Amos 5:5 ” Seek Me and live; do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba.”

God is not in a certain location. Just because there’s been a great move of God there, doesn’t mean we need to worship the place it happened at. Why do we like to travel to places rather than searching for the source that made the location great in the first place? Pursue God, not where He might have been.

Isaiah 11:2 ” The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him – The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and of Power, the Spirit of Knowledge and of the fear of the Lord – and He will delight in the fear of the Lord.”

The same Spirit that rested on Jesus, rests on you. And so I pray this wonderful revelation of Isaiah for you today. May you be filled to overflowing with an abundance of God’s insight , discernment, and counsel as you make decisions in your life. May He occupy every thought with His sage advise – for the source of all wisdom is in God. Lastly, May you stand ever in awe and reverence before the throne of Grace…because without it, you’d be lost.

John 10:2 ” The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.”

The thief enters over the fence…the wild animal, by digging underneath the enclosure…but the shepherd strides up and opens the gate. The Good Shepherd – Jesus, is not only the sole person who can rightfully open the gate…He is the gate. For in verse 9, Jesus goes on to say, “I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved.” Jesus is the Good Shepherd and the only means by which we can be saved… ever watching over, and protecting His flock… allowing passage into eternity.

Ephesians 1:17 ” I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.”

Oh, to have that divine knowledge and insight to discern good from bad…right from wrong…wise from foolish. But if you think about it…we do have access to that kind of wisdom – it’s through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit – that still small voice giving direction and guidance, helping us make the right choices every day. All we have to do is be willing to listen and obey.

II Corinthians 12:9 ” But He said to me, ‘ My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ “

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m limited…as a human being, I’m limited mentally and physically of what I can do. As a fallen sinner, I’m very limited spiritually and morally to do what I should. So here I sit, immersed in my weakness, when God, leans over and whispers, “But what I want to do through you can only be achieved, and carried through to perfection in that weakness. Otherwise, you’d think it was you doing it, and not Me completing it through you.”

Romans 2:1 ” You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”

We judge others daily, without even thinking about it. We causally judge and condemn others as we walk down the street, or stand with a group of friends. Judging others is a way to make us feel better about ourselves, but at what price? If we judge harshly, we too will be judged harshly…but if we relinquish that selfish need to elevate ourselves before others, we may start seeing people through the eyes of Jesus.

Romans 1:3-4 ” Regarding His Son, who as to His human nature was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”

It’s difficult for us to realize that Jesus was fully man and fully God. He freely took upon Himself the trappings of a natural man…with every corrupt and base thing that is human…and in doing so became subject to all suffering and mortality just like us. But the big difference was that Jesus never sinned – for He was also fully God. He was the Messiah, Son of God, and part of the Trinity…all rolled up into one.
