John 10:10 ” The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. “

Make no bones about it – Satan would like you dead…and He’s out to kill you by any means he can.  He’d love to get you entangled in an addiction that would take your life, or get you to compromise and make bad choices that would lead to your demise.  You see, Satan doesn’t have an ounce of compassion or regard for you.  He’d rather take your joy…ruin your life…and ravage your body than watch you grow strong in the Lord.  But in Jesus Christ…you are stronger than any threat Satan can throw your way…you are more powerful than any addiction that holds you bound…and you are tougher than you could ever imagine yourself.

We’ve got to live: Mindfully of His plan.

In Philippians 2:13 it says, “For it is God Who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.”  The Lord has a specific plan and purpose for each one of us.  He takes our gifts, talents, and passions…which are totally unique to just us,  and executes a perfect plan for our life.  Our job is to be ever cognizant of His leading, listening to that still small voice, and following the path laid out before us.

Job 42: 1-2 ” Then Job replied to the Lord: ‘ I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.’ “

Job recognized and understood that the plans and purposes of the Lord couldn’t be stopped.  In Matthew 19:26,  Jesus made the statement that, “with God all things are possible.”  This wasn’t a qualifying statement.  Rather,  when He said all,  He meant all.  Oh that we could have the same kind of discernment that Job had…the same kind of boldness,  that when God says all things are possible, we know He means it.  For God is a promise-making God…but more importantly, He’s a promise fulfilling God.

I Thessalonians 4:1 ” Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.”

It would be easy if living a Godly life was a once and done…or if we could somehow attain “Christian perfection.”   Unfortunately, our walk is a lifelong  journey…our race is a marathon not a sprint. What we learn one day…we apply to the next…and slowly we’re changed…day by day.

Psalm 39:5 ” You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before You. Each man’s life is but a breath. “

Take a deep breath…inhale and exhale slowly.  Without breath, you’re dead.  Your life force is gone, your body shut down.  This verse looks at the very fleeting nature of one’s existence.  That life is but one breath away from dying…and that our life span is measured as a blink of the eye in the eternal scheme of things. Let us then determine that while we’re  here on earth for such a short duration,  our focus should be on what we can do to better the world, rather than just exist in it.

Nehemiah 6: 15-16 ” So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God. “

In only 52 days the wall around Jerusalem was rebuilt, securing it from enemy attack.  Despite everything their enemies attempted to do to dissuade and intimidate them, the wall was made strong.  In less than 2 months time,  the people of Jerusalem had done something of super-human ability… and their enemies realized this.  Nothing will ever stand in the way of God’s plan…not people…not circumstances…not anything.  And this will render the enemy fearful and  in awe of God’s great power.

Proverbs 15:2 ” The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. “

God first wants to work in you,  before He works through you.  Remember that your journey with the Lord is  a marathon not a sprint when you get impatient.  Don’t lose hope in the middle of God shaping you into what you need to be…for only then you can be the most effective for His unique plan and purpose in your life.

Isaiah 25:1 “O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.”

God has a plan and purpose for your life.  It was formulated before the creation of time.  He has put in place wonderful and miraculous things in order for you to accomplish it.  He is trustworthy and steadfast in  His objectives for you…never wanting you to fail.  You may think God can’t use you…but you are oh so wrong.  You are exactly what He’s looking for…you have been placed on this earth at this very moment in time to accomplish great things in His name.

Isaiah 1: 19-20 ” If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Yielding our will to God is not easy…for compliance never comes without internal struggle.  But if we listen to Him…understanding that it’s for our own good that He’s directing us that way…and then obey the message we’ve heard…God will work all things out for our good.  Along this same line, Job 36:11 says, “If they obey and serve Him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity  and their years in contentment.”  Simple obedience…sometimes hard to do, but oh so beneficial.

I John 4:18 ” There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

With maturity in the Lord comes new boldness and confidence.  A strong Christian walk seasons and prepares us so that when fear threatens, we can face it without anxiety and insecurity.  The time is now to face that fear head on…don’t allow it to control and  dominate your life…for that fear causes you to forfeit your peace and wellbeing.
