Deuteronomy 4:24 ” For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”

The Lord allows no rivals…He is the only One worthy of our worship.  His protective intolerance towards idolatry is for our own good, but also realize, He will never tolerate glib lip-service of faux reverence.  As Exodus 15:7 states, ” In the greatness of Your majesty You threw down those who opposed You.  You unleashed Your burning anger; it consumed them like stubble.”

II Corinthians 1: 22 ” He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

Do you know  how much God loves you?  He loves you so much, that  He has stamped His name on your heart… and you are now His forever and ever.  No person or thing  can ever take you away from Him.  That Holy stamp is indelible, unchangeable, and eternal.

Ephesians 1:17 ” I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.”

We should all be asking for these…Divine knowledge, moral insight, and Holy inspiration.  Praying daily, we should be desiring  not only of more awareness of the Lord, but to have divine understanding and discernment of that newly illuminated perception of Him.

II Peter 1:21 ” For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

The difference between a prophet and a false prophet is where their word come from. If it’s based on selfish wants and desires…that’s a false prophet.  But if the person is attentively listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit…inspired and motivated only by His voice…that is true prophecy.

I Kings 8:27 ” But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven cannot contain You. How much less this Temple I have built? “

This verse is part of Solomon’s prayer of dedication for the new Temple in Jerusalem.  He doubted that this building could in any way hold the Spirit of the Lord…since God can’t be limited to time/space dimensions.  But the Holy Spirit can dwell within the Believer, for in I Corinthians 6:19 it reads, “Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.”  What a Temple built of stone couldn’t start to hold, can be wonderfully contained within our fleshly Temple.

Romans 8: 26-27 ” In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”

There have been times when mere words could not express the anguish and pain I felt…when fear and dread were overwhelming, and all I could do was weep.  Those were the times that the Holy Spirit interceded on my behalf…pleading when I had no words…serving as a go-between when I had no idea what even to pray for.  For when the Holy Spirit intercedes…it’s in agreement with the will of God, thus the perfect prayer on my behalf.

II Timothy 1:6 ” For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God…”

The gifts of the Spirit…if the Holy Spirit resides within, you possess them.  The question is – are you allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you to exercise these gifts for the edification of others?  Have you become lazy and apathetic?  Do you even know your gifts?  Three places you can look for a listing of Spiritual gifts would be I Corinthians 12: 7-11,  Romans 12: 6-8, and Ephesians 4: 11-12.  We are all given a gift mix that meshes and complements our personalities and bents. I pray that your gifts are rekindled with passion and that you will be filled with a boldness and zeal to move out in them.

Luke 1:41 “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit gave Elizabeth divine revelation into the miracle of Mary and her unborn child. Elizabeth then bore witness and confirmed Mary’s faith, for it states in verse 45, “Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished.” This affirmation was what Mary needed, and during the 3 months she stayed with Zechariah and Elizabeth she was encouraged and strengthened by their kind, wise words…not only marveling at the miracle happening within Elizabeth, but the ever-growing miracle inside herself.

Galatians 5:16 ” So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”

By following the urging of the Holy Spirit rather than our own misguided appetites and passions, our lives will play out in harmony, peace, and righteousness. For when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead, we pass from that old person to a new creation in Christ.

I Peter 1:15 ” Just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘ Be holy because I am holy’ “

For many of us, when we read this verse, we see the almost impossible task of holiness. Well aware of God’s call to live a holy life, our path deviates far from His desire for us. But if the Holy Spirit is residing within, all is not lost to feelings of guilt and shame, for with the call also comes the ability to live that holy life. It happens by allowing the Holy Spirit to rule and reign within and not our flesh. Holiness is a way of life…an attitude and focus, not an unreachable goal.
