All things as we know it will end someday, but the Almighty Lord is without beginning or end. His deliverance of us from the guilt and punishment of sin will always stand firm…His Word is eternal and everlasting…the Lord will always remain.

Isaiah 29:13 ” The Lord says, ‘ These people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is made up only of rules taught by men.’ “
Our lips are the gate to honesty or deception…and giving lip service or insincere devotion to our Lord is the height of falsehood. And when we worship the rules more than worshiping God, it takes it to a realm of legalism that He never intended. Mankind has a bad habit of focusing on Rules… while God wants the focus to be on the Relationship.
Isaiah 55:12 ” You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.”
The reassuring feeling of knowing that everything is alright is almost palpable. It’s hard to explain, but easy to recognize…that sense of deep abiding security, safe in the palm of your Heavenly Father. I’ve heard it said that the very safest place to be is in the center of God’s Will. To know that peace, is to know Him…to know Him starts by saying Yes to His son, Jesus.
Isaiah 41:13 ” For I am the Lord your God, Who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
There is nothing like that sinking feeling of being lost. Nothing is familiar, everything around is strange and scary. Oh, what you would give for someone to come along side , take your hand, tell you everything will be Ok, and show you the way. But God is just like that…when we are lost, He extends His hand towards us, reassuring us that all will be well…” I will help you and show you the way… Follow Me.
Isaiah 45: 22 ” Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”
To be saved…the Hebrew word for this is Yasa. The name Jesus came from this root word…meaning He will save His people from their sins,(Matt.1:21). Jesus came to redeem and save the lost…and in no other name can we be saved.
Isaiah 42:9 ” See, the former things have taken place, and the new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
On this last day of 2013, let us consider the past year, while we look to the future. The Hebrew description of this would be like a man rowing a boat; he backs into the future while looking towards where he has been. As you reflect, know He is declaring new things into your life, and will be working mightily for them to come about.
Isaiah 9:6 ” …And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
This passage sums up the extraordinary aspects of God. He is magnificent in wisdom…all powerful…existing eternally…our shelter of safety and security forever. Praise His glorious name!
Isaiah 1:13 “Stop bringing meaningless offerings!”
Have your conversations with the Lord become automatic and repetitive? Are your prayers the same words over and over again, to the point you can rattle them off without much thought or emotion? Meaningless babble to the Lord is as detestable as totally ignoring Him. Today, throw away the scripted and memorized prayers…for God longs to hear your heart…your needs and wishes in a loving conversation, not a manifesto.
Isaiah 64:8 ” Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.”
There are times in all our lives when we think we know more than God. We have this idea in our heads of how this “vessel” of ours should look…but God has a different idea…and this is where the conflict starts. He pushes and prods one way, and we whine and rebel the opposite. But the Master Potter always knows what the perfect vessel will be for the particular type of clay He has on the wheel. Yes, being “remolded” can be quite painful, and then there’s the firing… but at the end, a perfect vessel will emerge from the kiln.
Isaiah 33:2 ” O Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.”
Be kind and merciful Lord as I wait on You. Be my strength when I have none, be my victory when I am filled with anguish…for in You Lord, I have found unfailing love. Amen
