Jeremiah 29:11 ” ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ “

The plan and purpose for your life was written before the beginning of time.  Every goal, aspiration, and ambition has been planned for you beforehand…every aim, consideration, and course of life has been especially designed for you only by the Lord Himself.  He desires only the best for you.

Jeremiah 23: 28 ” Let the (false) prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has My word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain? “

This Scripture speaks to what is truth, and what is false…it speaks to God’s divinely ordained Word, and the corrupted half-truths that come from the pit of hell.  The bottom line for us is…do we want to be filled with the “fruit” of His Word, or the useless stubble left behind?

Proverbs 21: 23 ” He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.”

You may know someone…it might even be yourself that’s developed this fateful disease know as Foot in Mouth.  Some people are so affected,  that the only time their foot comes out of their mouth – is to change socks!  It takes wisdom and discipline not to just blurt out anything that comes to mind.  It takes us thinking before we speak…is this appropriate?…is this kind?…will I regret saying this tomorrow?  So much trouble and misery could be avoided if we’d just learn to think before we opened our mouth.

Jeremiah 51:15 ” He made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.”

At that pivotal moment…at the beginning of time…God brought into existence the heavens and earth.  He created the world and everything within it, and stretched out the heavens like a tent across the sky.  In God’s infinite intelligence and knowledge, all was called into being…where there had been nothing before.

Lamentations 3:21 ” Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope.”

Jeremiah sits observing the destruction of his beloved city of Jerusalem.  All around is utter chaos, death, and carnage.  It’s at that very lowest point that he forces himself to remember…to recall all the Lord has done for him.  He ponders God’s loving mercy, His trustworthiness, and  faithfulness…and in doing so, lays hold again of his confidence and trust in the Lord.

Jeremiah 31: 18-19 ” Restore me, and I will return, because You are the Lord my God. After I strayed, I repented; after I came to understand, I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.”

When we’re young we think we know  everything…but in reality, how foolish and stupid we really are.  But if we can but realize our folly, and turn back to God with a changed heart…the Lord can then do mighty things not only in us, but through us for His glory.

Jeremiah 51: 46 ” Do not lose heart or be afraid.”

When fear wraps up our heart, we are unnerved and intimidated.  We become faint hearted and disheartened…fear preventing us from taking action.  As fear wraps up our heart, it destroys our confidence in ourselves…and sadly our confidence in the Lord.

Jeremiah 10:10 ” But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God, the eternal King…”

In the Lord you will only find truth.  He is ever reliable, trustworthy, and sure…His Kingdom is everlasting.  As it says so beautifully in Daniel 6:26, ” For He is the living God and He endures forever; His Kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end.”

Jeremiah 6:16 ” Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Interestingly enough, the Hebrew word for “ancient” can mean both future and past times.  How many times have you stood at the crossroads…imploring the Lord on which way to go.  Or maybe your actions and behaviors have brought you to one of “God’s Crossroads”, where He has made it painful evident that you need to make hard decisions.  The Lord wants all to choose the right path…the one that leads to Him.

Jeremiah 50: 34 ” Yet their Redeemer is strong; the Lord Almighty is His name. He will vigorously defend their cause…”

God’s powerful hand is ever hovering over you to fiercely protect and contend on your behalf. There is none like His equal. He is your kinsman Redeemer…your Deliverer…the Lord Almighty is His name.
