There is only one thing that can totally satisfy the spiritual hunger of our soul…there is only one spring of living water welling up to completely quench our thirst for the truth…His name is Jesus…the Way – the Truth – the Life.

Job 23:10 ” But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”
The Lord understands us better than we do ourselves…He knows our behaviors and actions before they even happen. So when we are tested by Him, He is determining our true character and integrity…for He wants us to emerge from His refiner’s fire as pure, precious gold. Those tests will come…but we can come forth victorious.
Isaiah 6: 8-9 ” Then I heard the Voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’ “
When the Lord’s going to talk to me, I’d sure wish He’d use His huge thunderous voice….so I’d know, that I’d know, that I’d know, it was Him speaking and not just my own silly thoughts. But usually, what I hear is that quiet, still small voice, that I have to strain physically and spiritually to perceive. It’d sure be easier if He’d use a 2×4 up the side of my head to get my attention, rather than that soft whisper I too many times choose to ignore. It doesn’t matter though how the Lord speaks…it only truly matters what I choose do when He calls.
Ephesians 5:8 ” For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.”
We all at one time lived in darkness… in sin and misery, not knowing the way out. But then there appeared a light…a shining illumination that dispelled the blackness from our minds and our souls and filled us with all goodness and righteousness from Him. Jesus Himself said,”…I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” You are a child of the Light…walk in that shining spiritual enlightenment today.
Acts 3:6 ” Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ “
The beggar at the Temple gate did not realize he had a divine appointment with the Disciples Peter and John as they headed to prayer that day. Crippled from birth, he had to be carried each day to the spot near the gate where he’d sit, begging for a few coins. So imagine his surprise, when Peter exclaimed,…”Friend, I don’t have any money, but what I do have is far beyond anything you could ever envision. What I have to give you is a new body…So by the power and authority of our Redeemer, Jesus,…Stand up and walk!” That beggar’s life was forever changed by the name of Jesus.
Jeremiah 10:5 ” Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good.”
Just like the scarecrow you put up in the garden…” Man-made gods are no gods at all.” (Acts 19:26). That funny looking old scarecrow may fool the birds for a little while, but pretty soon they’re sitting on its shoulder and ignoring it’s purpose. Any god that man has made is worthless…it can’t move, walk or talk…it can’t do evil, but it has no real benefit either. The scarecrow hanging in the melon patch, as with any other man-made gods, will never save you from your sins, or love you unconditionally, or heal your body from disease. No, there is only one…and His name is Jesus.
Luke 6:37 ” Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
The premise is so simple, the impending possible result… eternal. The Lord doesn’t want us doing His job…judging and condemning are His work, not ours. Every time we pass judgment on someone, we take on God’s mantel…which doesn’t fit us at all. Every time we judge, it may make us feel better about ourselves for a moment, but the Lord is grieved for our actions. Let God do His job…judging, and you do yours…forgiving.
PSALM 139:1 ” O Lord, you have searched me and know me.”
The Lord knows you intimately…He understands you better than you understand yourself. He knows every deep dark secret in your heart and still loves you. The Lord not only sees everything you do, but keeps count of every step you take. No one knows you better than the Lord…before even a word is out of your mouth He knows it completely. What better person than to put your complete trust in Him today.
Jeremiah 15: 11 ” The Lord said, ‘ Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will make your enemies plead with you in times of disaster and times of distress.’ “
Do you know God has an ultimate purpose for your life? Now, before you shake you head and tell me God could never use you…let’s think about it. The Lord used Jonah, even though he said no, and ran as far away as he could from God. The Lord used Rahab the prostitute to hide the Israelite spies in the city of Jericho despite her former life-style. The Lord used Peter, even though he used to stick his foot in his mouth on a regular basis. So see, you’re in good company…God uses everyday people to do unbelievable and unimaginable things. What it takes on your part, is just willingness and obedience to listen to that still small voice inside you.
Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
Our words should be tempered with the love of Christ…our actions showing His character and love. We should be ever grateful and continually honoring our Lord in everything we do and say… everyday…and to everyone we come in contact with.
