Matthew 6:20 ” But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

Our real reward awaits us in heaven… and whatever your concept of heaven is, it will far exceed what you can ever imagine.  Jesus spoke about earthly wealth as a way to help the poor among us and in doing so providing ourselves with heavenly riches.  As He told the rich young ruler…”If you wish to be truly obedient,  Go, Sell everything, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.”

I Peter 4:14 ” If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”

If someone makes a rude comment because you’re a Christian…if they belittle or demean you for your stand for Christ –  count yourself blessed!  It demonstrates that the hand of God is present and involved in your life with a divine purpose.  It shows that the Holy Spirit is actively dwelling within you,  imparting glory…And in the eyes of God, you are honored.

Romans 8:18 ” I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Paul did not count the fleeting, temporary pain of standing up for the Gospel anything to be even considered,  in sight of the future splendor Heaven and eternal life held.  Rather, he rejoiced in the suffering, knowing he would soon be overjoyed by the glory.

II Corinthians 4:18 ” So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Our attention can not be on the temporal… the worldly…on the here today but gone tomorrow mentality that permeates the society.  Rather, our focus…our affection…our hope must be on the things yet unseen.

Philippians 3: 18-19 ” …many live as enemies of the Cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.”

The world scoffs at the Cross and all it stands for.  They don’t see their fate rooted in the ruination of their soul eternally…instead they only see the momentary gratification of the flesh and the 15 minutes of fame they try to  possess.

I Corinthians 13:3 ” If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

Our motive for doing something is far more important than the act itself.  If we do a kind deed, but with an ulterior motive that is based on selfish pride or desires, that once kind deed has turned a dark corner. Our  motives  need always to remain pure and selfless as we go about the Lord’s work .

I Corinthians 13:2 ” If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

You may think you have it all together as a Christian…you may even think that you’ve got a direct line to God Himself, but if all your head knowledge isn’t surrounded by love and compassion it’s rubbish.  If you don’t take the attitude of a servant when you’re telling others about Jesus, it’s all just bauble.  I’ve heard it said –  You may think yourself  as some great Christian Leader with a dynamic  ministry…but if you look behind you, and no one’s following…you’re just out for a walk.

I Corinthians 13:1 ” If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.”

Some noises are just irritating to our ears…fingernails on a chalkboard, piercing fire alarms, or the incessant high-pitched barks of a dog all seem to  rub us the wrong way. So  if I preach to you, but have no compassion…or  exhort you, but have no empathy for your situation, I’m just like that annoying sound you  quickly walk away from.

Isaiah 30:30 ” The Lord will cause men to hear His majestic voice.”

The world may disregard and brush God aside. They may snub and scorn the name of Jesus. But there’s coming a day when ignoring God will be impossible. His glory and splendor will be irrefutable…His majesty will spread across the vast expanse of sky. And at that moment, God’s mighty voice will be heard by all…causing every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that Jesus is Lord.

Acts 3:6 ” Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ “

The beggar at the Temple gate did not realize he had a divine appointment with the Disciples Peter and John as they headed to prayer that day. Crippled from birth, he had to be carried each day to the spot near the gate where he’d sit, begging for a few coins. So imagine his surprise, when Peter exclaimed,…”Friend, I don’t have any money, but what I do have is far beyond anything you could ever envision. What I have to give you is a new body…So by the power and authority of our Redeemer, Jesus,…Stand up and walk!” That beggar’s life was forever changed by the name of Jesus.
