Just because you have a desire and passion for something doesn’t mean you’re the one to accomplish it. David was one of Israel’s most famous kings, and the Lord had laid on his heart the desire to build a temple…a permanent place for the glory of the Lord to dwell. But God had different plans for him. I Chronicles 28:3 says, “But God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for My Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.’ ” David was a man of war, where his son Solomon, the successor to his throne, was a man of peace. Now David might have felt he needed to be the one to build the temple, but he didn’t argue with God. He then understood that his job was to do the preliminary planning…and before he died, David had procured and amassed many of the building materials needed so that his son Solomon could then start the project. For many of us, we’re God’s preliminary planners…we have God’s vision and the passion for the task at hand. But our job is that of prayer and intercession…for God has in mind someone else to fulfill the mission.

I Corinthians 1:5 ” For in Him you have been enriched in every way – in all your speaking and in all your knowledge…”
The Lord would say to you…Do not waste you time lamenting for things you do not have…for talents or gifts I have not given you. Rather, use what I have given you. Use the talents, gifts and passions I have placed uniquely in you, and do not limit Me. Do not limit My working through you. Use what you have. You need nothing else. You lack nothing I have not already placed in you. Do not limit Me in Your life. Trust Me, and you will never lack… for lacking is not of Me…as is fear and anxiety. Trust Me.
Matthew 18:14 ” In the same way your Father in Heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.”
Jesus’s passion was for the lost…it showed every time He spoke about them to His Disciples. What are you passionate about? What do you have great enthusiasm, fire and intensity for? God can take our passions and use them for His good everyday. For me, my passion is cooking and baking…you could call me a real “Foodie”. I will admit without shame that I have a library of cookbooks, plus 6 binders of collected recipes from the last 30 years. My poor long-suffering husband never knows what he’ll be eating, for I’m always trying new recipes out on him. But the Lord has me using this passion to bake cookies, birthday cakes, cupcakes, and cheesecakes to surprise and bless many, many people. He has taken my passion and focused it outward to bless others…He can do the same with yours.
