In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul, rephrases this idea in I Corinthians 8:6, when he writes, “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” Even though our feeble human minds have a difficult, almost impossible chance of understanding the sheer magnitude of this Scripture…let’s try. Everything has a starting point. But with God, He’s not only the starting point, He existed before the starting point. And so out of Him and only by Him all things were created…both in heaven and here on earth. And the last time I checked, “all” meant everything! So everything you see, hear, feel, smell, or taste came from your Heavenly Father. Why then, wouldn’t we want to give Him honor, praise, and adoration for what He’s done for us?

Psalm 108:3-4 ” I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of You among the peoples. For great is Your love, higher than the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”
Having a really bad day? Go outside then, take a deep breath, and look up into the sky. Now celebrate the fact that God’s majesty is on display just for you. Thank Him that He sought you out in your brokenness and worked a miracle in your life. Proclaim to Him again your trust in His son, Jesus Christ. Gaze up into the sky and recognize… that vast expanse above you can not start to contain God’s love for you.
Malachi 1:6 ” A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a Father, where is the honor due Me? If I am a Master, where is the respect due Me? says the Lord Almighty. “
We’ll readily agree that God is our Heavenly Father and the Master of the universe. But our actions seldom match the honor and respect we should be showing the Lord Almighty. Our reverence and appreciation usually goes to material things and our comfort… rather than God. We should all then ask ourselves if we’re showing God the respect and honor He’s due, or placing ourselves on the throne instead.
Psalm 52:9 ” I will praise You forever for what You have done; in You name I will hope, for Your name is good. I will praise You in the presence of Your saints.”
Do you see your glass as half empty, or half full? Rather than focus and dwell on the have nots…concentrate on what the Lord has already accomplished in your life. Thank Him for what He’s brought you through as you expectantly wait for Him. Linger in the miraculous happenings of your life story with the Lord as you anticipate what He’ll do next. As one of the faithful, your glass will never again be half empty…for the Lord’s love will fill it to overflowing.
Isaiah 25:1 “O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.”
God has a plan and purpose for your life. It was formulated before the creation of time. He has put in place wonderful and miraculous things in order for you to accomplish it. He is trustworthy and steadfast in His objectives for you…never wanting you to fail. You may think God can’t use you…but you are oh so wrong. You are exactly what He’s looking for…you have been placed on this earth at this very moment in time to accomplish great things in His name.
Psalm 145:3 ” Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.”
Paul’s letter to the Romans tried to explain our incomprehension of God’s greatness when he said, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” (Romans 11:33) As humans, we cannot start to understand or ever figure out just how wonders and miracles happen…for the Lord’s power is truly unfathomable.
Deuteronomy 32:4 ” He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God Who does no wrong, upright and just is He.”
He is the foundation you can build your life on. He is fair and impartial with all His dealings. Everything He does is complete and flawless from beginning to end. He will never be anything but totally honest with you. Could you then put your trust in such a God? I urge you today to give Him a chance …you will not be sorry.
II Corinthians 6:16 ” For we are the Temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘ I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
Life from whom all living things derive their viability and existence only comes from the Lord above. And as the Body of Believers, we not only receive life and breath from the Father, but we also are given the Holy Spirit to reside within us.
Psalm 95: 1-2 “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our Salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.”
We tend to go to the Lord in bad times only…when life is treating us unfairly and we’re filled with sadness. But the Psalmist is telling us – Go to God when your happy and content…Go to Him when life is good and you feel truly blessed of Him. For He desires to hear you during the hard times…but He delights in hearing your praises.
Romans 15: 5-6 ” May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
When tough times come into your life the Lord doesn’t want you to self-isolate away from the Body of Believers. Yes, God will give you the ability to remain tranquil in the mist of suffering, and He will exhort to firmly establish your faith. But there’s something about being with a group of like-minded people praying, and praising God for what He has and will be doing in our lives, that changes our perspective…our inward focus will move outward…our mind will be taken off ourselves, to others… The situation may not change…but we will.
