Hebrews 1:3 ” The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being…”
We look like our parents…we possess characteristics from both of them. Our DNA is a family history from generations past. Jesus was that perfect expression of His Heavenly Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:9, ” Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.” God’s divine glory and splendor took on flesh and came down here to earth to live among us…and His name was Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 4:13 “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
All that I’ve ever done will be stripped and exposed to plain view before the Lord someday, and I’ll have to give an explanation for each act. There’ll be no excuses, no whining, no blaming others for what I did…only total honesty before the Lord. Reality will suddenly take on a brand new face, as I stand before my Creator and see myself for what I truly am…a sinner.
Isaiah 12: 2 ” Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.”
When I tremble with fear…my confidence will be in You, and You only Lord. When my strength wanes within me…I will look to You to sustain me. When sorrow shrouds me like a fog, I will find my joy in Your song of love towards me. For Lord, you are my salvation, now and forevermore.
John 19: 23-24 ” When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took His clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. ‘Let’s not tear it,’ they said to one another. ‘Let’s decide by lot who will get it.’ This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said, ‘They divided My garments among them and cast lots for My clothing.’ So this is what the soldiers did. “
This inner tunic was extremely well made by someone highly skilled in weaving. The construction so far superior, that all the guards saw it as a prized possession, not to be torn into pieces. They decided instead to cast lots for it, which meant that they would all place a marked lot into a vessel which was shaken by one of them with his face turned away…the first lot to fall out would indicate the person chosen. This game of chance that the guards took part in was foretold of in Psalm 22:18, which is considered a Messianic Psalm…one pertaining to Jesus. Those guards had no idea they were fulfilling Messianic prophecy that day at Golgotha.
John 9: 25 ” One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see.”
The beggar had been blind since birth… but if you think about it, we are all born blind…born with Spiritual blindness. It says that Jesus spat on the ground, made some mud, and smeared it on the man’s eyes, and then told him to go wash in the Pool of Siloam. There are several stories throughout the Gospels of Jesus using this unusual tactic to heal…He was literally placing a piece of Himself- His DNA, on the person needing the healing. Later, after the Pharisees were done interrogating the man, Jesus found him, and asked if he believed in the Messiah. And for the very first time the man “saw” Jesus for who He really was. Open your eyes and see your Savior.
Matthew 4:19 ” “Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Jesus had been walking along the Sea of Galilee when He came upon Peter and Andrew casting their fishing nets. When He extended the invitation to follow Him he used an interesting Greek word for “make”…I will make you fishers of men. The word means that Jesus would be doing the work, producing the desired outcome in their lives. In other words He was telling them that if they followed Him, He would enable them to gather in all mankind for the sake of the Gospel.
II Corinthians 6:2 ” For He says, ‘In the time of My favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
In everyone’s life will come that decisive point in time when we make that decision to either say “Yes” to Jesus or not. It may come easily, or after much travail on our part…but regardless it will come. For those who may be yet searching, today is the day, the time is now, the place is here…the Lord is holding out His hand, and pleased to show His favor towards you…now is the day of Your salvation…now is the time to say…Yes.
John 1:12 ” Yet to all who receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
By accepting Jesus into your life, you are granted not only the right but the authority to be called a child of God. A dearly loved child with all the rights and privileges bestowed on you by your Heavenly Father. You are no longer a lonely orphan…you have been adopted…adopted into the family of God.
Romans 10: 9-10 ” That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Trust builds in our heart as we hear about Jesus…this new found faith grows and sets well with our soul. It’s at that point we need to take the next step which is to publicly acknowledge Jesus as our resurrected Savior. We take what’s within our heart, and make it real by speaking it forth.
