Acts 22:6-7 ” About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute Me?’ “

Saul knew immediately and absolutely just who was speaking to him.  For his response to the voice was, “Who are You, Lord?”  For in an instant, Saul realized the deity and supremacy of the voice of the Lord.  We all someday will hear that same voice of the Lord.  For some it will be the stern voice at Judgement Day…but for others it will be the kind words, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

Psalm 95:8 ” Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts…”

Can I as a Believer have a hard heart?  The answer is yes!  Now I’m not talking about full-out rebellion against God…I’m talking more about apathy.  For the road to a hardened heart starts simply with indifference and disregard to the Holy Spirit.  We hear but we choose to ignore.  That’s because we arrogantly think we know better, so we slowly toughen our stance…digging in our heels…holding on to old habits we’re unlikely to ever change.  A hardened heart does not happen over night…it is rather an insidious and gradual process of resistance towards God’s authority in our life.

Isaiah 30:21 ” Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ “

That still small voice is ever-present…ever speaking the Lord’s revelation for our lives. However, the world’s noise drowns it out very easily, and our hearing acuity is dulled by the ever present blare. But if we listen carefully, that voice will guide us through our journey and relationship with God…for “He will guard and watch closely all our paths.” (Job 33:11)
