II Thessalonians 3:1 ” Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.”

Paul’s  prayer request is still so very relevant today. We need to pray that God’s Word…the Gospel…the Good News of Christ,  be spread abroad to all nations.  This important, soul-saving  message needs to continue  to advance swiftly throughout the world, bringing all to the saving knowledge of  Jesus.

Psalm 146: 1-2 ” Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”

Declare the goodness of the Lord.  Exclaim His greatness, wonder, and glory.  He is so worthy of our praise.  Rejoice in all His wonderful blessings…those you are aware of, and those you are unmindful of.  Glorify the Lord with your praises as long as you have breath in your body to do so.  Praise the Lord from your innermost being…Praise His name!

Romans 15: 4 ” For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

What do you actually get out of reading the Bible?  Is it a task that you feel duty-bound to do?  Is it a grouping of feel-good stories you casually enjoy, only to forget soon after?  The Scriptures are educational, but if we take them no farther than that, we’re missing the greatest potential God has for us.  The Bible is meant to  inspire…to transform…to  restore…to influence…to motive…to encourage everyone who opens up the Word.  And every time you close the Bible,  God wants  you to be changed.

Philippians 1: 4-6 ” In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

We all share in being part of the Good News of Jesus Christ.  And from that assurance, we can be confident that what God has started in our lives will continue to grow and flourish until it is fully achieved…and His purpose in our lives has been perfectly accomplished…according to His glorious Will.

Ephesians 3:12 ” In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.”

Because of what Jesus did for us on the Cross, we can have unfailing trust…absolute access…audacious boldness, and limitless belief in our Heavenly Father.  Such fearless confidence like this is only  found through Christ and accepting Him as our Lord and Savior.

Acts 9:40 ” Peter sent them all out of the room; then got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, ‘ Tabitha, get up.’ She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.”

Peter first got rid of all the worldly distractions.  He then knelt down, putting his mind, body and spirit in right relationship with God.  Finally, he poured out his heart to the Lord.  He prayed boldly that God would raise this wonderful old saint from the dead…and it happened!  He called her name, and she responded.

Psalm 91:13 ” You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample on the great lion and the serpent.”

As Jesus told the 72 He sent out in Luke 10:19, ” I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”  We have been given the power to triumph over the forces of Satan, and by the mighty name of Jesus we can defeat and crush him.

Psalm 91: 9-10 ” If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the Lord, Who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.”

When you have established the One True God as your dwelling place, you are in a position of safety and peace.  And from that secure place, you, the righteous, are protected from calamity and suffering…for no harm will befall the righteous. (Proverbs 12:21)

Psalm 91: 7-8 ” A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.”

In this fallen world, there will be wars and rumors of wars…and many will be brought down violently at the hands of godless men. But you will only glimpse it from afar, for the evil will not come close… it will only retreat.

Psalm 91:5 ” You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day…”

Whether it be in darkness or light of day, the Lord is with you.  His presence overshadows any panic that may befall you in the blackness of night.  He watches over you during the day, deflecting the enemies’ fiery darts that may assail you. Do not fear…the Lord is with you.
