King Darius had spent a sleepless night after being tricked by his administrators and satraps into throwing Daniel into the lions’ den. The King had tried to rescue Daniel, but his decree stood and couldn’t be repealed. So here he was at first light, yelling for a response from Daniel. Did the King really imagine that Daniel had survived the night…was he hoping beyond hope…or had Daniel’s trust in God been so very evident that King Darius actually believed it was possible?

Revelation 19:6 ” Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.’ “
If you’ve ever been to a huge stadium cheering your team on you can recall the deafening roar of the crowd. Now imagine multiplying that noise by thousands upon thousands. That’s what it sounds like in Heaven. A tremendous throng of saints, all singing Hallelujah and praising God together…and all on the winning team!
I Corinthians 1:5 ” For in Him you have been enriched in every way – in all your speaking and in all your knowledge.”
Take a moment to remember yourself as a brand new Christian…now look at yourself today. From the beginning, the Lord has been pouring into you divine revelation and understanding. He’s been improving, refining, and endowing you in all aspects in order that you might fight the good fight. And today you stand, having been built up in Christ…strong, and full of Godly wisdom.
Luke 5:16 ” But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
It’s not that Jesus was anti-social or hated the crowds that pressed in all the time around Him…for He loved people. But He did require Father-Son time, and searching out solitary places to pray was essential for His wellbeing. When we’re alone by our self in the silence – we shut out the noise of the world…we gain God’s perspective…we hear clearly from the Holy Spirit. It was essential for Jesus…it’s no different for you.
Psalm 35:13 “…and humbled myself with fasting.”
Sometimes when we want the Lord to get serious with us…we need to get serious with Him. A day spent in prayer and fasting not only allows us to focus on the request, but the physical exercise of denying ourselves brings about clarity and direction from God as we humble ourselves before Him.
II Corinthians 10: 17-18 ” But, let him who boasts boast in the Lord. For, it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.”
The longevity of a ministry has little to do with administrative guidance, good funding, or broad appeal. If you look at the world-wide ministries that have endured for decades, you see humble men and women that don’t call attention to themselves, but rather continually point the way to the Cross as sinners saved by grace.
II Corinthians 6:16 ” For we are the Temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘ I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
Life from whom all living things derive their viability and existence only comes from the Lord above. And as the Body of Believers, we not only receive life and breath from the Father, but we also are given the Holy Spirit to reside within us.
Psalm 88: 1-2 “O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before You. My prayer comes before You; turn Your ear to my cry.”
When our prayers rise to heaven, the Lord hears. When He hears, He answers. When He answers, He always acts on our behalf…according to His perfect Will.
I Corinthians 2: 6-7 ” We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.”
The principles and judgment of this day and age are totally opposed to God’s wisdom. The absurdity and foolishness people look to as sage advice are laughable in the eyes of the Lord. True Godly wisdom is hidden naturally to mankind and unknown to human reasoning. It is only made known to the Believer by Godly revelation.
Ecclesiastes 2:13 ” I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.”
Groping around in pitch blackness can be dangerous. The consequences can be just as hazardous when spiritual darkness blinds us to the risks and pitfalls of this fallen world. When light invades the darkness, the darkness must flee. When life, salvation, and wisdom come into us…the spiritual darkness must also take flight.
