About

Over the years the Lord has been there for me while traveling through many dark valleys…I have learned much during those times. But the Lord did not want me to keep these precious bits of truth, wisdom, and encouragement to myself. So I give them to you… that you may clearly see the wonderful path the Lord has for you. We all have gifts, talents and passions which God has placed within us…I pray you will use yours to encourage others! Each day a new Devotional will be posted. My hope is that they will inspire and encourage you as you walk with the Lord.

Each daily devotional is intended to be short and to the point. I want the Lord to speak to you, not me just rattling on. This devotional Blog was started in Sept. 2012 and will continue in this format until the Lord instructs me otherwise. On October 2, 2015 the 1000th Devotional was posted. In April 2017 it hit 1500.  In March of 2022 there were over 3,200 Devotionals and in September of 2023 almost 3800 going into over 150 countries around the world.

A little about myself, I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and now retired Nurse. Raised on a farm in Central Illinois. I have lived most of my adult life in the Pacific North-West of the USA, amid the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains. In July 2016 I retired from Nursing after 36 years and we moved back to Central Illinois to be closer to all my family and assist my elderly parents. Over the years I have had the opportunity to speak at Church Conferences, Women’s Teas, and preach on a regular basis.   In October of 2015 I received my Local Pastors License.

Where does the name, Safetypinlove come from?   Years ago the Lord supplied a tiny safety pin on the morning of my husband’s open heart surgery.  The surgeons were not optimistic, but it was his only chance to live, so there I was trying to get dressed before surgery.  I wanted to look nice, as it possibly could be the last time my husband would see me this side of heaven – so I put on his favorite dress of mine…but off popped a button!  For about 20 minutes I searched for something…anything to use.  Finally in sheer frustration, exhaustion and fear I stood in the middle of the room and cried.  I prayed, “Lord, I don’t know if I can do this. I’m scared, but I need to be strong for him.  Please help me.”  I stood there crying, too exhausted to even take the dress off…when suddenly a peace seemed to pour over me and with tear-blurred eyes I spied a tiny safety pin on the maker’s tab of my suitcase…at that moment I knew that God would hold me together regardless of the outcome.  I pinned my dress together and hurried to the hospital.  The surgery was a miraculous  success, despite the surgeons realizing it was much worse.  And that miracle still continues in that safety pin – a constant reminder of a loving God who holds us together in times of crisis.
