Proverbs 10:4 ” Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

A colorful word that the writers of Proverbs use for a lazy person is sluggard.  Idle hands and a poor work ethic will never lead to anything good in life…while hardworking, untiring hands  are strong, powerful and lead to prosperity.

I Corinthians 11:23-26 ” The Lord Jesus, on the night He as betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘This is My body, which is for you, do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this , whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me. For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.’ “

The Eucharist…Holy Communion…the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper – these verses are used often to explain and give enlightenment to this sacred act.  But sadly,  the  receiving of Communion is often rushed or so common place that the Believer isn’t allowed the time to truly dwell on what the elements they hold in their hands mean.  Communion is a reminder of  who Jesus is and what He  has done for us.  It’s a chance to ponder where we’d be without Him.  The next time you take Communion…look at the bread and cup carefully…reflect on His goodness and mercy…meditate on what He’s done for you…and declare your thanks.

Proverbs 14:2 ” He whose walk is upright fears the Lord, but he whose ways are devious despises Him.”

It’s simple…dishonest people don’t like God. Deceitful people  abhor and hate Him. Why so?  Well, when the light of truth shines brightly on sin it causes people to feel guilty and they become  defensive…and in turn angry and scornful. Most people know they’re sinning…they just don’t want God pointing it out to them.

I Corinthians 4:1 ” So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.”

Just who is a servant of God?  Pastors and Ministers…yes.  Evangelists and Missionaries…yes.  But have you ever given thought that you also are a servant of God?  As a Believer, you have been given the responsibly as a Steward of the Gospel.  In your Christian journey, the divine truths of following Jesus are being revealed to you every day.  As a Believer, you are then held accountable for spreading the Gospel Message to those the Lord brings across your path.

Psalm 42:8 ” By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me – a prayer to the God of my life.”

God oversees His kindness and mercy  towards us daily.  At night when the worries of the day keep us awake, remember that a  hymn or prayer of praise and thankfulness to the Lord will comfort  and give you rest.  In that way, love flows to and from us continually.

Job 24: 13 ” There are those who rebel against the light, who do not know Its ways or stay in Its path.”

The light of Jesus has come into the world…but men love darkness, (John 3:19-20).  They resist God, not recognizing or acknowledging His majesty and the gift of salvation He offers.  He calls all of us to be children of light…for the fruit of light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. (Eph. 5:8-14).

Jeremiah 31:3 ” The Lord appeared to us in the past saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.’ “

Someone you know may be far from God.  Maybe you’ve been praying for them  for a long time and haven’t seen anything positive.  Don’t give up!  The Lord is still at work – drawing that person with cords of kindness and ties of love…ever wooing them towards salvation. For God takes great delight in them…calling them beloved of Him.  Keep praying!

Isaiah 50:10 ” Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of His servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.”

Your life style is very telling.  If you’re constantly compromising and going along  with the crowd, even if you know better, you need to re-examine where your trust lies.  Who are you placing your confidence in…your friends or God?

II Thessalonians 2:6-7 ” And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one Who now holds it back will continue to do so till He is taken out of the way.”

The Holy Spirit is the restraining force in this world…holding back the power of lawlessness and the devil.  He also is impeding the power of the many Antichrists existing now here on earth…for it says in I John 2:18, “Even now many (Antichrists) have come.”   This verse goes on to say that some day the Holy Spirit will be” taken out of the way”.  He will not actually depart…just remove His restraining power from earth.

I Corinthians 4:20 ” For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.”

You can tell someone about God.  You can share what He’s done in your life, and how you’ve been changed.  But words are empty until the Holy Spirit reveals to that person the true nature and reality of the might and  authority of God .
