Our Lord will supply every neccessity…in all things, at all times, giving all that we need. But where we have difficulties in this verse, is in the difference between needing something, and just wanting it…We may have a hard time delineating between the two, but God in His infinite knowledge knows exactly what we need, and what is only a carnal desire. In the end, it’s the Lord in His kindness, tolerance, and patience who decides what’s the very best for us.

Genesis 4:9 ” Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel?’ ‘I don’t know,’ he replied, ‘Am I my brother’s keeper?’ “
With God being omnipresent – all present, and omniscient – all-knowing, He didn’t have to ask Cain where Abel was…He knew that Cain had murdered him. But God was testing Cain to see his reply. Do you think Cain was that naive that he didn’t think God knew what happened? Was it out of anger, frustration or guilt that Cain shot back his own question…”Am I my brother’s keeper?” Cain had fallen in the trap set by Satan, and he was carrying out Satan’s desires…to kill and destroy. But looking again at Cain’s question…was he his brother’s keeper? Are we our brother’s keeper? Is it our responsibility to be that guardian, chaperon, or protector to our fellow human beings?Though God never specifically answered Cain’s question, from the severity of the sentence He handed down, Cain had his answer.
John 1:12 ” Yet to all who receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
By accepting Jesus into your life, you are granted not only the right but the authority to be called a child of God. A dearly loved child with all the rights and privileges bestowed on you by your Heavenly Father. You are no longer a lonely orphan…you have been adopted…adopted into the family of God.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 ” What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
We humans think the same…whatever is happening in our lives is totally unique and has never happened to anyone else…ever! By thinking this way, we can self-isolate from fear, embarrassment, or shame of what others may say or do. Anxiety and dread may be alleviated by simply speaking up. Telling someone, seeking medical attention, or getting help will allow you to see that you are not alone, you’re not abnormal, and like Solomon wrote- there is nothing new under the sun- thus whatever is happening in your life has happened to thousands of people also… so Speak up!
Isaiah 1:18 “…Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…”
Snow. We get lots of it here in Idaho, and there’s nothing as beautiful as the sun shining on a new snowfall. Everything is covered with a pristine, white blanket..the dull, drab landscape is transformed into a glorious magnificence. Isaiah wrote that ‘though our sins were like scarlet, they will be white as snow.’ Our sinful life can be transformed by God’s love and mercy. His love can cover our grubby, dirty past with a perfect blanket of white. When snow falls it covers everything…it doesn’t pick and choose where it lands…the same with our Lord…His love and mercy is for everyone, forever changing our lives with a beautiful white blanket of forgiveness.
