Earlier, in verse 3, Joshua had instructed the people to move out and follow the priests with the ark of the covenant…” Then you’ll know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.” God will always go before us, preparing the way. He’ll never send you without first preparing not only you, but the path ahead. What He asks of you is to be willing to move out…take that first step…and get your feet wet.

Acts 9:40 ” Peter sent them all out of the room; then got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, ‘ Tabitha, get up.’ She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.”
Peter first got rid of all the worldly distractions. He then knelt down, putting his mind, body and spirit in right relationship with God. Finally, he poured out his heart to the Lord. He prayed boldly that God would raise this wonderful old saint from the dead…and it happened! He called her name, and she responded.
Psalm 91: 14-16 ” ‘Because he loves Me,’ says the Lord, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliever him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.’ “
These last three verses of Psalm 91 are a culmination of all the preceding promises in this chapter. When we make Jesus our Lord, and trust Him in our lives, He will “honor those who honor Him.” (I Samuel 2:30) When our devotion is towards Him, God will hear us when we call, and rescue us from trouble. Finally, He will grant us eternal life and a final victory over death and the grave.
Psalm 91: 11-12 ” For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
These verses are so very powerful that Satan himself quoted them to Jesus in Luke 4:10-11 and Matthew 4:6. He knew that God commissions His Angels to protect and watch over His people…that they carry us in the hollow of their hands, safeguarding us from any fatal or disastrous blows from the enemy. Yes, Satan knows all about our Guardian Angels…but he can’t do anything about them, for they are under direct orders from God.
Psalm 91: 9-10 ” If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the Lord, Who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.”
When you have established the One True God as your dwelling place, you are in a position of safety and peace. And from that secure place, you, the righteous, are protected from calamity and suffering…for no harm will befall the righteous. (Proverbs 12:21)
Psalm 91:5 ” You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day…”
Whether it be in darkness or light of day, the Lord is with you. His presence overshadows any panic that may befall you in the blackness of night. He watches over you during the day, deflecting the enemies’ fiery darts that may assail you. Do not fear…the Lord is with you.
Psalm 91:4 ” He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
You can seek spiritual protection and place your trust in the Lord. He will hide you in the shadow of His security and truth. Rely on Him, and Him only when trouble comes, for God’s faithfulness will be your protector and guide.
Psalm 91:1 ” He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
When we take up habitation in the shelter and protection of the One True God, our souls will be refreshed…our minds will be comforted…our hearts will be calmed…And His peace will flood every area of our being.
Revelation 8:4 ” The smoke of the incense , together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand.”
Every prayer you’ve ever prayed has gone up before the Lord…ascending like a sweet-smelling incense in His presence. Not one of your prayers has been wasted or lost. They have all risen in front of your Heavenly Father and have been acknowledged. Psalm 141:2 says, ” May my prayer be set before You like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.” Be reassured today…your prayers are being heard by God.
I Kings 22: 13-14 ” The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, ‘Look, as one man the other prophets are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.’ But Micaiah said, ‘ As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.’ “
The kings of Judah and Israel were debating whether to join forces and attack the king of Aram. They called together 400 prophets who all proclaimed victory for them. But then Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah asked, ” Is there not a prophet of the Lord?” The king of Israel replied, ” Yes, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad.” Micaiah could of taken the politically correct route rather than speaking the truth of God. He could of agreed with the other prophets, and in doing so ,compromised his integrity to be part of the popular crowd. Instead, he didn’t allow fear or intimidation to dissuade him from boldly speaking God’s words.
