Revelation 1:5 ” To Him Who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood…”

God’s love was revealed in Christ Jesus who came to set us free and break off the chains of sin that bound us so tightly.  This sacrificial shedding of Christ’s blood was necessary to atone for our sins and is the only way we can come back into a right relationship with God the Father.   For you see, true freedom can only be found in Jesus.

Ephesians 2:12-13 ” Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”

We were all once,  “…without hope and without God in the world.”  We were separated from Him by a chasm so deep and wide… there was no way of getting across by ourselves.  In this bleak darkness our desperation grew, and we felt the hopelessness of being abandoned.  But God then provided the bridge across that vast chasm…it was in the shape of a Cross.  The gracious gift of redemption and reconciliation was bound to this Cross as the blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, ran down it.  Yes, we were all once hopeless and cut off from God…but then God built a bridge for us…in the shape of a Cross.

Hebrews 9:26 ” Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”

No matter how many animal sacrifices were made in the Temple…they never fully removed the people’s sin.  It wasn’t until Jesus Christ gave Himself up as the unblemished Lamb of God that humankind was finally delivered from the guilt and punishment of sin.  Hebrews 9:12 says, “He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.”  God offered His only son, Jesus, to take our place on that Cross.  He died as an atonement for our sins…His blood being shed once for all.  Which means He only had to died one time, not over and over again like the Temple sacrifices.  For it was Jesus that took upon Himself the sins of the entire world that you and I might be redeemed and set free.

John 17: 25-26 ” Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, I know You, and they know that You have sent Me. I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Me may be in them and that I Myself may be in them. “

God so loved the world that He gave us His Son, Jesus Christ.  This overwhelming love was evidenced by Him sending Jesus to die for our sinful world…placing such unwarranted value on us, though we certainly didn’t deserve it.  What we deserved was God’s wrath and judgment…but what we received was the sacrificial lamb of Jesus… Who died in our place.

Hebrews 10:4 ” Because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”

From the beginning of time, man has attempted to remove the shame and guilt of sin.  The Priests would offer the same sacrifices day after day, over and over again…but the humiliation would remain.  No matter how many times an animal sacrifice was laid at the altar…it was never good enough. That’s because it’s only the blood of Jesus Christ that can take away, once for all, your sins and the guilt and shame that harass  you. When Jesus died on the Cross for you, He took upon Himself your sins, and made a way to our Heavenly Father…that you might experience peace.  If there’s no happiness or peace in your inner self today…maybe you should consider asking Jesus into your life.

Hebrews 9:12 ” He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.”

You have been redeemed!  Your debt of sin has been cleared off the books forever…your freedom purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ.  But Jesus didn’t have to die over and over a multitude of times to atone for your sins… rather, He came and gave His life once for all in order that you may have eternal life.  Yes, you have been redeemed!

I John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”

Walking in the Light…to you, what does that mean? You might say things like life, salvation, or wisdom. The scripture says we should share this light with one another and the atoning sacrifice of the Blood of the Lamb will wash us white as snow. Have you shared your light with someone today? Light is really quite easy to share…a smile, a kind word, a loving gesture all simple but effective ways to let your light shine. Yours may be the only twinkling candle of light someone around you will see today in their dark world. Shine on!
