Matthew 12:36-37 ” But I tell you that men will have to give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

At that final judgment day, we will all give a reckoning of everything we’ve ever spoken. Our own words will either vindicate or pass sentence on us. Every reckless slip of the tongue with no concern for the consequences or who we’re hurting will be examined. Every off-hand remark spoken in anger will be duly noted. But like-wise, every expression of faith and trust in Jesus Christ as evidenced in a ongoing personal relationship with Him will exonerate us. Careless words, spoken in haste, have always been the downfall of mankind. Proverbs 10:19 warns us, “When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.” Our careless words can never be taken back once they have left our mouth… and one day, we will have to give an account for them.
