Psalm 49:5-6 ” Why should I fear when evil days come, when wicked deceivers surround me – those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?”

When power & pride are more important than God…evil runs wild. When the wicked are more confident in themselves and their riches…immorality reigns. But no amount of money or arrogance will save their souls in the end. And this is laid out later in verse 13 of this Chapter when it warns, “This is the fate of those who trust in themselves.” For it’s pride and rebellion that causes someone not to seek after God and it’s stupidity that makes them think they don’t need Him.
