Luke 8:16 ” No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.”

The whole purpose of a oil lamp is that it may give off light…not be hidden away somewhere. And our whole purpose as Believers is to display God’s light through our lives…not conceal it to others around us. But instead of shining like a burning lamp in the dark, we tend to veil the light within us, too afraid to share it with the world. In Isaiah 60:1-3 God promised that the light of His glory in Israel would attract all nations. And we are then told in John 1:9 that Jesus is the light of the world… His light now shining through His Church. (I John 1:8-10) So as His Church, now is the time to pull our lamps out from under the bed and allow them to shine like beacons on a hill to a dark & dying world.
