II Corinthians 7:6 ” But God, Who comforts the downcast, comforted us…”

I bet you know the story of Job and his three well-meaning, but inept friends. His frustration spilled over in Job 16:2 when he said, “Miserable comforters are you all!” For instead of supporting Job, his friends minimized and judged his despair. So just remember, your words can hurt or they can heal…and most times your compassion matters more than composing pointless answers.

Next, remember that resurfacing sorrow isn’t a spiritual setback. Psalm 42:3 says, “My tears have been my food day and night.” During those profound emotional and spiritual times of anguish… seek the Lord amid the tears…for in itself this is an exquisite expression of faith.

Finally, Put a voice to the fatigue and fear. The Apostle Paul did this in II Corinthians 7:5-6, naming what he had gone through…constant harassment, conflict, and fear. But in verse 6 he confidently stated, “But God, Who comforts the downcast, comforted us…” So, it’s okay and very normal to feel discouraged…but keep trusting that God is at work, and allow His comfort to be the source of your strength.
