Psalm 2:1 asks the question, “Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain against the Lord?” It’s because within the cunning imagination of man is that prideful idea that we can control our own destiny…but this all just vanity. For God’s Will prevails over all… and He will carry out His plan and purpose for His glory. We may think we know the answers…but only God can see from beginning to end and around every corner of life.
Jesus already knew what the blind man wanted before he even spoke. It was also quite obvious to the crowd as this poor beggar groped and fumbled his way to Jesus what he needed. But it wasn’t until the blind man spoke, “I want to see.” that God’s merciful kindness and Will came into his life. Do you lack God’s vision in your life right now? Is He calling you into a new season, a new work and you’re hesitating because it’s going against all sound reasoning? Do you desire His perfect purpose and plan in your life? Then like that blind beggar, tell the Lord, “I want to see.”
Psalm 40:8 tells us, “I desire ( or choose) to do Your will O my God.” We even see Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane praying, “Yet not as I will (want), but as You will.” (Matthew 26:39) When we seek God’s will… we desire that which pleases God and thus will create joy within us…for we will find ourselves in the center of His will…and it’s the very best place to be.
We’ve all been there. That deep moan of grief or pain escapes our lips…but that’s all. No words are spoken…because there are no words. Our mind is a confusing jumble of our frail mortal condition. That’s when the Holy Spirit can express for us the unutterable, inexpressible words we can’t find. And that’s when the Holy Spirit can step in and make intercession for us according to the Will of God. (Romans 8:27) The indwelling Holy Spirit is always there to pray…when we can’t.
God is not up in Heaven right now pacing and wringing His hands…nor is there the slightest sign of uncertainty or doubt on His face. Rather, God is seated on His throne in total and absolute control of every situation happening today. For there is no person or thing that can successfully oppose or block God’s Will. That’s because His ultimate plan and purpose is always being worked out perfectly to conform to His Will…for with God all things are possible.
For all of you that enjoy Bible trivia, the middle Scripture of the Bible is this verse, Psalm 118:8 . It’s the very center point of God’s Word. So was it placed there by chance or divinely inspired? Many times I’ve prayed to find God’s perfect plan and purpose in my life…to be in the very center of His Will. For I know that’s the safest and very best place to be. And if I look at the fundamental truths in this verse, it makes that search easier. Where am I placing my faith and trust…whose promises am I putting stock in…and where really does my confidence lie? If it’s in man, I’m going to be disappointed…but if my trust is in the Lord, I will find His ultimate plan and purpose for my life.
