Deuteronomy 11: 26-28 ” See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse – the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.”

When God created us, He didn’t build robots.  Instead, He gave us a free will to make decisions and act on them…whether wise or foolish.  But it’s also our free will that gets us into trouble most times.  We bristle at being told what to do, and obeying the rules, in our mind, is optional.  Yes, our free will can become problematic!  So in this passage, the Lord is quite concise and deliberate in His laying out of our options.  We are given the choice…the decision is ours.  Will we obey and receive a blessing, or will we rebel and experience a curse?

Job 42:1-2 ” Then Job replied to the Lord: ‘I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.’ “

God is not up in Heaven right now pacing and wringing His hands…nor is there the slightest sign of uncertainty or doubt on His face.  Rather,  God is seated on His throne in total and absolute control of every situation happening today.  For there is no person or thing that can successfully oppose or block God’s Will.  That’s because His ultimate plan and purpose is always being worked out perfectly to conform to His Will…for with God all things are possible.

Amos 1:1 ” The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa…”

Amos came from humble country roots…he was tending sheep when the Lord appeared and said to him, “Go, prophesy to My people Israel.” (Amos 7:15) Amos had no great educational background, but yet the Book of Amos is a very skilled and beautiful literary writing. He grew up as a poor shepherd, yet God sent him to speak against the Rich and their sins against the needy. God will use anyone, at anytime, to do His Will…He just needs a willing vessel brave enough to step out in Faith.
