God will not stand for apostasy…spiritual adultery with pagan gods…whatever that god or idol may look like in your world. For anything that comes between you and God…that causes you to wander away from God’s instruction…that makes you think you know more than God…that’s an idol.

Psalm 73: 23-24 ” Yet I am always with You; You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will take me into glory.”
The Lord is always with me…during the good times as well as the bad. Even when I forget about Him…He’s still there. He’s as close as my next breath or my next heart beat. God’s right there to advise and show me His plan and purpose for my life. And when the waves of life come crashing down on me…I grasp onto His strong right hand…and hold on.
Psalm 119: 130 ” The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”
After speaking at a Ladies Breakfast yesterday, I reflected on what I had gleaned from the experience. Yes, I learn something every time I speak…for within all the preparation and presentation, the Lord speaks to me also. Insight into God’s word makes the simple wise, and I’m grasping after His truths daily. Insight into His heart is like a rose slowly unfolding its petals…becoming more beautiful and precious every day.
Psalm 26: 7 ” I go about your alter, O Lord, proclaiming aloud Your praise and telling of all Your wonderful deeds.”
It’s testimony Sunday, and I want to share a miracle that happen this week…especially for those who think miracles don’t happen anymore. My Daughter-In-Law was driving home with two kids, two dogs, and a newly acquired horse…a journey covering three states…when the clutch in the truck started making noise…and then the wet heavy snow began falling, making driving very difficult. After 16 1/2 hours on the road, she safety pulled into their driveway. The next morning, she got into the truck to take it to the Dealership to find the clutch was completely out…the truck wouldn’t move, and had to be towed. How many miles do you think the angels propelled that truck through the blinding snowstorm and held that clutch together so they could get home safely?
Isaiah 25:1 ” O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.”
The steadfastness and certainty of the Lord can not be more apparent than knowing that what He has planned for us was decided long before this world began. This is shown even more beautifully in Isaiah 14:24, “The Lord Almighty has sworn, ‘Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.’ ” God and His Word does not change…nor will His purpose and plans for your life.
The Tomb’s still empty.
On that Resurrection Sunday they found the stone rolled away and the tomb where they had laid Jesus empty…and somehow we tend to forget the power it took for that miracle to happen. We forget the magnitude of Jesus taking every sin ever committed by mankind on Himself. We downplay the sacrifice He made for us while we were yet sinners. So the next time you’re racked by fear and doubt…remember the tomb’s still empty. When discouragement and anxiety try to take over your life…remember the tomb’s still empty. When the world seems in turmoil and paranoia…remember the tomb’s still empty, and God’s still in control…and if you had been the only person on earth, Jesus would have died for you.
Proverbs 14:33 ” Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known.”
We tend to perceive things through our senses…but they aren’t always correct or reliable. But intelligent insight and sound judgment are far superior to charged up emotions or senses any day. And to think about it… even a fool can gain wisdom and discretion…by simply keeping his mouth shut!
I John 2:16 ” For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world.”
The corrupt nature of man hasn’t change one bit from when this scripture was written to today…or for that matter…from when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Man’s means and manners on the most part involve fulfilling and satisfying those sinful needs and pleasures that can never be fully appeased. Proverbs 27:20 tells us that our eyes are never satisfied. The world is always searching for the next new thing…the next new entertainment …the next new indulgence…never to be satisfied by the status quo. There is only one thing that can fully satisfy that longing and that is a relationship with the living Jesus.
I John 2:15 ” Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
The world view of love is selfish…it focuses on greed, ambition, self-glory, and what I can get out of. In contrast, God’s love – agape love – is unconditional. It’s not depended on what you can do for me, or what I can get from you. Agape love can not be offended, it will never retaliate, it will never stop loving…for agape love is a decision, not a feeling.
Galatians 1:10 ” Am I now trying to win approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
We can only serve one Master. We can have only one allegiance. We either serve man or God. For all our time will be either spent soliciting man’s approval…or solely looking to the Lord for His blessings.
