Ezekiel 34:11-12 ” For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I Myself will search for My sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after My sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.”

All of mankind can agree….”I have strayed like a lost sheep.” (Psalm 119:176)  But the wonderful thing about these verses in Ezekiel is how proactive the Lord is.  It’s Him that is searching us out, looking after us, and rescuing us from the thick darkness of sin.  Jesus is called the Good Shepherd who gathers and watches over His flock and tells us in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”  And like the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus will leave the 99 on the hillside to go looking for the one that has wandered off. (Matthew 18:10-14)  Have you strayed away from the Lord?  Know that Jesus is actively looking for you today.

Jeremiah 23:4 ” I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing, declares the Lord.”

Over the 36 years as a Nurse this Scripture was my “work verse”.  Health Care is a hard career,  and I would remind myself daily with this Scripture that the Lord had entrusted me with these patients to do the very best job I could.  For just as God watches over His flock like a shepherd (Jeremiah 31:10)…I was to do the same.
