Hebrews 13:9 ” Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them.”

Even back in Biblical history the author of Hebrews was warning us about the Progressive Church vs the Biblical Church. For anytime we allow ourselves to be tossed back and forth by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming…we are worshiping external regulations, not God. (Ephesians 4:14) And anytime we follow man’s teachings that don’t contain sufficient doctrinal support…we’re following man not the Lord. Recently I read an excellent article on the Progressive Church and the telltale signs. Things like the Message of the Gospel shifting from sin and redemption to social injustice… or the reinterpretation of the Bible and its terms to bring it more into modern times. This verse tells us that foundationally we need to be more concerned about God’s grace and mercy and our walk with Him rather than any “new” teaching from man.
