II Peter 1:5-8 ” For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Growing in the Lord and increasing our faith in Him is entirely our responsibility. Consequently, the same goes for our knowledge of the Lord. We can either invest our time, energy, and dedication in learning God’s Truth in the Bible and thereby gaining Christ-like wisdom…or we can stand idly by, our growth in the Lord stunted and barren because of our disobedience. Colossians 1:10 sums it up well, “We pray that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Growing in the knowledge of God is our obligation to live productive and godly lives… it only ending the moment we come face to face with Jesus.
